Humble Beginnings
Kurt Donald Cobain was born on 20th February 1967 to Wendy and Donald Cobain. They lived in a small logging town on the outskirts of Seattle called Aberdeen.
Kurt and his sister Kim had a relatively normal childhood. At one stage, Kurt was prescibed ritalin due to his hyperactive tendencies.
When Kurt was just 7 years old, his parents seperated. It was here when Kurt began to act out, so much so that he couldn't live with his father or mother, and was shipped about from relative to relative.
Kurt was given his first guitar by his aunt, who was also a musician. He was self-taught as far as guitar goes because his mother did not approve of his playing.
Kurt spent his troubled teen years smoking pot and drinking, unable to relate to anyone. During the days that he actually showed up for school, he would cut class, and spend most of his time in the library, reading.
Kurt's high school years are very vague - the only real thing known is that he didn't graduate despite his obvious intelligence, and that his classmates thought he was gay.

The Road to Nirvana
Kurt moved to Olympia and this was were he met Tracy Marander, his first serious girlfriend and the longest relationship he had, lasting for about 3 years.
Tracy loved Kurt, and looked after him, allowing him to draw over her walls to express himself. She would work, and he would drift between jobs, so he was mainly looked after by Tracy.
During 1990, Tracy knew Kurt was going to be famous. His band, Nirvana, were making waves in the underground Seattle music scene. So, because she loved him so much, Tracy broke up with Kurt, not wanting him to hold back from fame and riches because of her, as it was obvious he would give up this once in a lifetime opportunity to remain with Tracy. It is speculated that the pair re-united in late 1993, and began seeing each other again, another reason why Kurt would not kill himself. Kurt was not the unloyal type, but he was, and always would be, in love with Tracy. This is why on the Thank You section in the "In Utero" booklet, Kurt thanks Tracy before he thanks Courtney.
Between 1990 and early 91, Kurt met a woman called Tobi, and fell head over heels for her. They had a brief relationship, and in this time, Tobi's friend Hannah wrote "Kurt smells like Teen Spirit" on a wall. Teen spirit was the deoderant Tobi wore.
Tobi broke up with Kurt, and he began to write Nevermind, the album that would make him a rockstar. The album included a song called "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

Fame, Marriage, heroin, death
Kurt and his best friends, Krist and Dave, were famous. Their album, Nevermind, knocked Michael Jackson's album "Bad" off the No#1 spot in America.
Shortly after this time, Kurt met, fell in love with, and married Courtney Love. They were both addicted to heroin, and shared a love of music.
In 1993, Kurt's only child, Frances Bean Cobain was bought into the world.

For many couples, this would be a time for rejoicing. But not the Cobains. Rumours were already circulating that Kurt wanted a divorce, and Courtney called her laywer and friend Rosmary, and asked her to "find the meanest divorce laywer you can." According to Courtney's father (who also believes she had Kurt murdered) Kurt wanted to divorce Courtney on charges of adultery.
There were also rumours that Kurt was writing Courtney out of his will. This was witnessed by Cali, the nanny. Courtney had signed a pre-nup agreement, so if Kurt did divorce her, she would get nothing. It is more than a coincedence that Kurt died before his new will was finalised.
